Branch Programs – Millie Lee Siu, Vice President

Dear Teachers,

Unfortunately, due to the shelter-in place order in San Mateo County, we had to cancel the April 5th violin master class with Lisa Lee.

On the other hand we are excited to announce that Jazz pianist Yuko Maruyama will give her lecture online on Sunday April 26th, 3:00-4:30.

Lecture Presentation: Learn to Play from Chord Charts
Chord chart notation is widely used in jazz as well as in various genres of popular music. A chord chart gives basic information about a song, and how to play it is up to the musician who interprets the chart. This presentation covers some of the basic rules, techniques and ideas to approach the chord charts and how to apply them to the performance of the songs.

Please RSVP here.

I will send you further details on how to login and I hope many of you will join in.

Branch Recitals – Angeline Branson

Dear colleagues,

I hope this note finds you all well.

As you probably guessed, the branch recital that was planned for May 3rd is cancelled as a result of the shelter-in-place order that was extended to May 3rd. Perhaps students will practice more than usual with the extra time that they now have on their hands, and our next recital will be even more superb than our last one!

Keep up the good work teaching music! The gift of music is one that will bring richness to your students throughout their lives. In challenging times it’s even more important to have music in our lives to lift our spirit to higher spheres.

Stay well!

Angeline
